Welcome to Rock Creek Elementary School!

I served for twenty years as an administrator in the Waukee School District; 8 years as an elementary principal and 12 years as Waukee’s Executive Director of Student Services. Upon leaving Waukee, I spent a year providing educational consulting services to area school districts and Heartland AEA. I was then selected, by the Des Moines Public School District, to serve for two years as the principal at Smouse Opportunity School. I am currently a part time Mediator and IEP Facilitator for the state of Iowa through the Iowa Department of Education. My husband, Michael, and I and our two sons moved to Ankeny in 1988, at which time I was hired by the Ankeny School District to teach special education at Ankeny High School. After four years at AHS, I transferred to Northeast Elementary where I taught 3rd grade. I’m pleased, as a longtime Ankeny resident, to return to Ankeny Schools as Principal at Rock Creek. My greatest joy, as a leader, is to create a vibrant and welcoming school environment in which each student and staff member is valued and given the opportunity to excel. Toward that end I look forward to building a relationship with the students, families, and staff at Rock Creek Elementary. It’s truly an honor to be a part of the Rock Creek family!
